I write, therefore I am.
As the assignments desk editor at Top 5 television station, I stay on top of breaking news and upcoming events. To be successful at this job, you have to have your finger on the pulse - not only in Houston news, but in global affairs as well.
At the station, I have also been given the opportunity to write, produce, and update online content. One day, I'll cover a deadly doctors' strike in India. The next day, I'll write a fun story about penguins dressed in sweaters. It's all in a days work in the newsroom.
I also freelance with the Tribune Newspapers, a community newspaper in NE Harris County. I cover a variety of topics, including politics, human-interest pieces, and business news.
On a personal note...
I sit on the board of Women in the Visual and Literary Arts, where I serve as the newsletter editor. I am also a member of Flock, Houston Zoo's young professionals group.
I collect vintage typewriters. Next to writing, I'm an outdoorsy girl. If it's a pretty day, you can catch me playing tennis, jogging at Memorial Park, or simply reading a book on my patio.
A graduate of the University of Houston, I earned my degree in Psychology and minored in Journalism.
I live in Houston with my husband, Andrew, and our two misfit cats, Jack Donaghy and Black Kitty.
